WAUKESHA, WI — Fire crews helped one apartment resident out of a burning building after a report of a fire Sunday night on S. West Ave.
According to the Waukesha Fire Department, fire crews were called to a home on the 1600 block of S. West Ave. just after 10 p.m. Sunday after an apartment resident reported smelling smoke in the building.
Fire crews found smoke coming out of the two-story, four-family building, a Waukesha Fire Department news release stated.
Authorities said firefighters entered the building to help one resident get outside. All other people living in the building managed to exit the building on their own, officials said.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes, officials said.
