WAUKESHA, WI — Authorities in Waukesha say a house fire on Still Water Circle caused more than $90,000 in damage and could have easily spread to several other buildings.
Fire crews were called out to a house on the 3700 block of Still Water Circle just after 3 p.m. Monday on a report of a fire. Fire officials said firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the house, that extended up toward the attic.
According to the Waukesha Fire Department, everyone was able to get out of the house safely, as fire crews began attacking the fire. Before long, trucks and crews from multiple stations arrived, battling the blaze in 90-degree heat as the fire extended to a neighbor's house and threatened to do more damage.
Waukesha fire officials said firefighters battling the blaze put in an "extraordinary amount of work in a short amount of time" as the put out the fire on the outside of the home, then went inside to get the attic fire under control.
Fire officials said their work "undoubtedly saved multiple homes." Authorities are continuing to learn more about what might have caused the fire.
